Women Outloud!

For quite sometime now, the good folks over at Insight Arts have supported Bagwis and the Filipino community in general. One of our dear friends and kasama Lani Montreal is now spear-heading the cultural activities at their new space Center for New Possibilities on Morse in Rogers Park. Some of you may know that a few of us Bagwis members played on her last recording sessions at the Hamlin House. This time around she will be performing at the Center this coming Thursday, for one of Chicago’s longest running women Open Mic nights. If you have the chance, check it out!

She has featured in poetry events through out the Bay Area, and New York City, and has performed as a feature poet at Insight Arts and continues to read at various open mics around Chicago. She self published a book Called “The journey to identify the thing,” a series of poems that expands on self-reflection, discovery, love and the African American experience, which she is selling. She identifies as a visual and performing artist and is currently working on a new book of her latest poems called. “Poetry for Humanity”

Women Out Loud grew out of a need to create a venue for women writers/performers to spit fiery words in a nurturing space. So come and share your own poetry and prose. And as always, men may applaud and cheer. $5 suggested donation; $3 open mic-ers For more information, please email lani@insightartsliberation.org
